Prayer through Worship. The Lord's Day is the principal day for the celebration of the Eucharist because it is the day of the Resurrection. It is the pre-eminent day of the liturgical assembly, the day of the Christian family, and the day of joy and rest from work. (Catechism CCC 1193) Laetare Sunday has traditionally been viewed as a day of celebration, on which the austerity of Lent is briefly lessened. On Laetare Sunday, the purple vestments and altar cloths of Lent are set aside, and rose ones are used instead. Please reflect on what you hear at Mass.
